Horizontal Directional Drilling is a minimally invasive trenchless method of installing pipe underground along a predetermined path using highly specialized drilling equipment. In the past, large open trenches would have been dug to install utility conduit disrupting the above surface for the entire length, in contrast with HDD technology the disturbed working area is confined to the points of entry and exit. This process allows utilities to be easily installed with minimal disruption to the surrounding landscape, trees, road crossings, driveways, paved parking lots, and existing structures. Coastal Cable Construction can install conduit sizes ranging from 3/4” up to 10” in diameter for utilities and is able to bore short, medium, or long shots without the need for intermediate pits.
